Yerevan: all the despair & all the hope

Yerevan: all the despair & all the hope

I hate winters in Yerevan. I hate any weather that is below 15C degree. Maybe winter in Yerevan is perceived so badly because my first association is cold rooms everywhere.

When there is no sun and everything that seems authentic and cozy to me becomes ugly and gives off such hopelessness that I want to run away. For example, the image of those who sell things or vegetables on the street - all these old poor people who come in Zhiguli from the villages in the hope of earning at least something here.

In winter, it is especially clear how badly the transport works and how "backward" Armenia is. For some reason, all these chaotic stores where they sell absolutely everything affect me especially strongly. For instance, the underground metro, where they sell clothes, shoes, dried fruits, vegetables, sweets. I feel disgusted by this. But probably it depends on my mood - sometimes I see it as another riddle that needs to be solved, it seems to me such a beautiful ornament, which has its own logic. And sometimes photos from the subway are just an advertisement for how far Armenia is from developed Western countries. Now the thought of spending the whole winter in Armenia makes me feel terrified. I want to run away and hide.
